The Church of Our Ladies (Frauenkirche) was built in the 18th Century of very hard sandstone from
quarries in the Saxon Switzerland. Its characteristic dome, the so-called "stone bell" owing to its
shape, collapsed in the Second World War during the bombing. For a long time, its ruins were an
impressive anti-war monument. The reconstructed church was consecrated in October 2005 and ever since
is a symbol of conciliation, largely rebuilt with donations from German and international foundations.
Nowadays, it again completes Dresden picturesque skyline. Interested participants may visit the church
and experience the unique ambience in this magnificent baroque dome.
