Overview
Hamid Akhavan, born in 1961, was appointed Member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom responsible for the Mobile Communication
business area on December 5, 2006. Throughout the Deutsche Telekom Group, he is responsible for innovation and product development, as well
as technology, IT and procurement. Additionally, in his role as Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile International AG, he leads the
management of the mobile communications companies in Western, Southern and Eastern Europe and also those European national companies that
are present in both the fixed and mobile communications areas.
Convergence - Vision and Factors of Success
Hartmut Kremling (year of birth 1957) is the Chief Technology Officer of Vodafone Germany and Arcor AG. He is among the most senior
experts in the mobile communications business in the world. He was CEO of the Austrian mobile operator tele.ring and executive board
member at the German fixed network operator Arcor. He received his Master of Science degree in Information Technology at the Technical
University Chemnitz in 1983 and started his career at the Science and Technology Centre in Dresden.

Viviane Reding received a doctor degree of human sciences from Sorbonne, Paris.
She worked as a journalist from 1978 to 1999 and also served as President of the
Luxembourg Union of Journalists.
Her political career started in 1979 when she joined the Luxembourg Parliament.
During this time she was President of the social committee and member of
the North Atlantic Assembly. In 1989, she became a member of the European
Parliament. In 1999 she changed to the European Commission where she
served as Commissioner for Culture and Education. Since 2004 she has been the
Commissioner for Information Society and Media.

Siegmund M. Redl joined QUALCOMM Inc. as Director of Marketing for the CDMA Technologies division in August 1999.
Currently he holds the position of Country Manager Germany within Qualcomm Europe.
Siegmund M. Redl is a graduate of Munich's University of Technology and has spent over 19 years in the mobile communications industry.
After working as an intern at Siemens Semiconductor, where the essence of his diploma thesis was patented, Redl started his career in
1990 at Schlumberger Technologies' Communications Test Division where he held product management and marketing positions. In the course
of his work at Schlumberger Technologies, Siegmund Redl also participated in the ETSI GSM standardization efforts. In 1995 Redl joined
LSI Logic Corp. where he became Director of their Wireless Strategic Business unit.
Siegmund M. Redl is co-author of three textbooks on GSM and digital cellular technology (e.g. 'An Introduction to GSM', Artech House) and has
presented regularly on wireless communications topics.
A New Role of ICT -The Paradigm Shift of C&C Technologies-
Botaro Hirosaki received his BS and MSE degrees from the University of Tokyo in
1970 and Princeton University in 1978, respectively. He joined Central Research
Laboratories of NEC Corporation and had been involved in the development of high
speed and broadband communications systems. In 1984, he developed the world’s
first commercial product of OFDM data transmission systems with which he was
awarded a Doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo in 1986. From 2000 to 2008,
he was involved in the telecom networking business operation, intellectual asset
management and R&D management in NEC. He is currently the Senior Executive
Vice President and Board Member of NEC. Dr. Hirosaki is the Fellow Member of
both IEEE and IEICE, and is the Vice Chair of the Technical Committee in Bureau of
Industrial Advisory Committee for OECD.
